I will admit I will be upset if a bird fortress or reedtrap got burnt down and prob want a rollback, but that'd be up to the players if anything. Really people should be using rollback for anti-griefing to basically remove all process the cheater attempted to destroy, not as a "I made a mistake, rollback." You need to learn from mistakes and take the punishments for failing it. If you're rolling back because of fire hounds then that's the player's fault for not moving back and would be cheating. If you're going to rollback because a griefer burnt the entire base then that's reasonable and I say that's the most acceptable reason for a rollback. Might as well spawn that Tamo if you're that desperate. If you're using rollback because of a death or better loot then that's basically cheating. On private servers: whatever floats your boat, there are also mods in the steamworkshop to protect world / structures from destruction! Try to repair mistakes instead of cheat out with rollback on public servers. But all other mistakes like dead player, burned backpacks, starving players, broken boat sunken, drowning can always "repaired" with ingame means. Than obviously instantly kick griefer + rollback world. Only legit yes situation i can see to rollback is when the inevitable willow torch griefer comes to base and burns down a 40 day public base you build with help of 6 other people. > Better to rez a player ghost with telltale heart / life giving amulett than to silly rollback server for only 1 death ( because people die ALL THE TIME, and when you rollback the server for every insignifcant death you basically can never progress and stuck on day 1 for 24/7, besides with cheat rollback on death you will never learn the game properly and avoid legit death in the process ) All loot is optional and fluid group gameplay is more important than insignificant vanity items for bragging rights.Īlways think of the community, and in case you scared to make a "mistake" first communicate / chat and ask politelly with please, if ALL others are ok with a rollback OR better alternative can help with the mistake and AVOID the rollback instead. And tammy or cane are all OPTIONAL loot and some people prefer to build a megabase and instead prefer to not get interrupted constantly have to rebuild / big mega base setpieces.Ĭonclusion: All low % or "bad" drop rollbacks should be avoided at all costs. Because per winter it is easy as a big group to constantly 24/7 farm them and get at least 6-40 drops ( depending on Mctusk camp spawn on map ) per winter. Likewise farming Mctusk for tammy or cane is a big no on rollback. This is a big no situation for rollback, because 1 or 2 insignifcant "nerdy" player try to hold up the progress of the whole party 6 other waiting. Nobody on the public server said they wanted specific santa claws loot or whatever. I was on public server where 2 (veteran maybe) people wanted to rollback whole server only to farm Santa claws loot stash kill for no reason at all. Public server: Try to reduce rollback to a minimum ( especially on full servers ), because as an example if 1 player dies and he / she wants selfish rollback the dead player basically delete the progress of the other 7 player and in fact wastes the time of the other players.Private hosted server: Do whatever you like, if you are the host: Your house your rules, nobody cares, if you cheat / how you play.Depends if you are on a public or private hosted server:
